A range of other factor should be considered. Some of these are:
- Rogue, badly coded Apps hogging resources
- Rom specific memory issues with system process issues

Or

- Your phone has a lame battery.

If none of these apply and you still think wiping stats will help, check out this myth busting article from XDA

After moving from a heavy CM7 user on my old Nexus One I was sad to see there wasn’t really a stable build for Atrix. Since this though there has been much work on the CM7 front and with stable releases or CM7 we are starting to see some interesting mods.

Currently, I’m running Dorians RedPill CM7 Hybrid V1, (not to be confused with his 2.3.4 beta versions), essentially these are obsolete with the release of CM7 Hybrid.

Visit the XDA developers thread to get some info on this rom or alternatively download it directly here. The download is a flashable .zip which can be flashed using a custom recovery.

This rom DOES NOT contain any of the Google apps, so if you want the “Google experience”, (which I’m guessing you do), head over to the Cyanogen Mod wiki site to grab the latest Gapps.zip, (there is a helpful little table that shows you what version you need).

In summary, the rom is extremely smooth CM7 implementation and as yet (72hrs), I have yet to find any issues.

If you are after installation instructions I will be creating a generic guide to using CWM Recovery soon. Please in the mean time visit this helpful thread detailing all steps required.

Just a quick tip here if you use an app backup utility like Mybackup Pro or Titanium backup on a rooted device.

Sometimes its possible, even on a rooted handset to restore your apps and data and find that the market does not show the apps as being installed.

To fix this goto settings from the home screen on your device by clicking options/settings/applications/manage, then navigate to the Android Market and clear both cache and data. Job done!

If you haven’t heard the buzz About the Facebook session hijack tool FireSheep, (available as a Firefox extension), then you may well not be aware that the same tool is now available as an android app.

FaceNiff has been available for Android for some time with 1.9.4 being the latest stable release. Recently a newer beta version has become available.

Download the official version 2.0 beta release from HERE.

By default the trial is limited to 3 profiles. Follow these sneaky instructions to find out how to easily unlock the app.

Step 1:
Install the apk you just downloaded, open it, allow SU permissions and make sure you run the service by clicking start button.

Step 2:
Press menu and select unlock app,
Stop the service and close the app. Now open your file manager and go to the root of your SD card. You should see

A file named facenif.debug

Open this with your chosen text editor, (screen shot shows text file using Root Explorer).

Once open edit it with your text editor.

Within this file you will see the key for your app displayed.

Simply copy and paste it in the app after clicking unlock.

Enjoy unlimited uses!

Its a bit cheeky but to be honest I’m sure the dev is aware of how easy this is and I wouldn’t be supprised if we were supposedd to find this.

This is something I’ve found as a must over the years. The need to be able to switch off crappy mobile web sites. Automatically going to m.webstie.com often results in the lack of required information.

So here we go to enable some extra options in your android web browser simply enter “about:debug” in the address bar. Hit enter and your done. Nothing will happen but when your don’t go to settings and scroll down to the debug options.

Scroll to the bottom and choose, you will see a few different browser options. Most importantly desktop. Now one of the things you can do with you new powers is work better with Faceniff as whilst sniffing site clicking on the user may result in a mobile site which won’t allow you to manipulate their profile. If your not sure what faceniff is see here.

This is just a quick post to help all those out there that have found their Gingerbread Android handsets spamming them, trying to get you to download games etc from the market. The attack takes the form orlf a tray notification, which to me is a little too personal.

The source of the spam is not too sinister but I don’t like it anyways. Here’s how to stop it.

Open the market app tap the option key then select “settings”. Doing this will show you a screen like this, (see screen shot).

Now un-tick the suggestions box and you will be safe from invasive “suggestion” which are almost hallways nothing to do with your interests and likley go to the highest bidder.
